The season has begun!!

The Masters and Senior Box schedules and team rosters are now available on the SCHEDULES page.

Good luck at your first games and have a great season!!!  The Masters program is full but we are still accepting late registrations for Senior Box (contact). 

Don’t forget we have Peel Park secured for practice time every Tuesday evening from 9:30 - 10:30 PM.

SEASON START-UP

The countdown is on!  Just a few days now until the season starts-up.  You’ll be contacted shortly on your team assignments.  Schedules will be loaded up the website over the weekend.  Our Masters program is full.  We will continue to accept late registration for our Box(contact) program.  Registration requests should be sent robynne_w@hotmail.com

Please mark Sunday April 20th down on your calanders.  We’ve secured floortime at Luther Vipon in Brooklin for a season start-up clinic.  ALL are welcome see the time below:

5:00 - 6:30 pm                          MASTERS CLINIC (non-contact)

FINAL REGISTRATION

Don’t miss out playing lacrosse this season.  The season starts Monday April 21st (Senior Box) and Wednesday April 23rd (Masters), that’s just 3 weeks away.  We still have openings available for MASTERS and SENIOR BOX! 

Wednesday April 2nd 7-9pm will be our FINAL REGISTRAITON date.  Register in person with proof of birth(drivers license or birth ceritificate) at Iroquois Park.  Late Registration fee now in affect cost is $220.

Season Finale ~ Congrats Team White

A big congratulations to the White team for winning the A Final as our fall/winter season came to a close. 

 One last reminder of our registration this coming Wednesday, March 12th. It takes place at Iroquois from 7-9. Don’t miss out ~ sign up while there is still room, and it’s your last chance to register before late fees.

Wow, it’s hard to believe we are almost at the end of our season. Funny enough, all of last night’s matches will be replayed next week in the finals.

 Registration went well last night. Thanks to all who photocopied their identification prior to coming. For those who haven’t yet registered ~ don’t forget we will be at Iroquois Park Wednesday March 3rd and Wednesday March 12th from 7-9.

Meet your 2008 DWLL executive

Wednesday night the DWLL held it’s AGM at the Sports Garden Cafe. The following people have re-elected to the following positions:

 2007 proved to be an eventful year:

• the DWLL was able to successfully bring back our contact house league program. Our league has managed to grow each year; last summer sporting 4 contact and 8 non contact teams!
• with the closure of Soccer City, there was great concern within the lacrosse community on whether we could facilitate our Fall/Winter programs. Partnered with representatives from the men’s leagues, we lobbied Oshawa City council to help us find a home (we requested the now empty Civic). Unfortunately, this process is still on-going. We were pleased to find space at the Salem Soccer Facility. It may be small, but certainly helps us get our weekly lacrosse fix!

In these upcoming seasons, the executive is committed to promote and grow this sport we love. Some of our main priorities for this year include:

• continuing to promote women’s lacrosse - in both contact and non contact (Master’s) programs
• evaluate joining the OLA (Ontario Lacrosse Association) to aid us in the promotion of women’s lacrosse and bring a new dimention to the game ~ a women’s Provincial Championship for both contact and masters. This will be a first for women in Ontario.
• continue to work hard to secure a permanent home for our lacrosse programs. This executive, partnered with representatives from local men’s programs will continue to work together with the Oshawa City Council to secure one of the surplus ice rinks to be used as a dry floor facility. We will call upon our membership shortly to ensure our presence and persistance is noted.
• spring/summer registration information will be available shortly.

Lastly, we would like to thank our membership for your support and suggestions each season. We have a great group of ladies in our league!

I’ll remind everyone that this facility although heated will be cool as the winter approaches and there are no side boards. Gary Mark will be our referee and I’m confident he’ll keep us all in line and adjust rules as required.

Directions when traveling from Oshawa/Whitby:Travel West on Highway 401 into Whitby.
Exit at Brock Street.
Turn left on Brock Street (traveling South) until Victoria Street.
Turn right onto Victoria Street (traveling West) until Lake Ridge Road.
Turn left onto Lake Ridge Road (traveling South).
Turn into the Carruthers Creek Golf Course parking lot (located on your right hand side).
Continue to travel straight to wards the back of the Golf Course Clubhouse.
