Gear Cleaning offer from CRCS Distaster Kleenup

August 3, 2011

CRCS is offering pre-paid gear cleaning certificates that will be available at tomorrow’s Awards Banquet.

The certificates are $35 and will be good for one gear cleaning. They will be available from Jenn Bowers all through the evening. Two drop off dates are available for August 9 or 16 and your gear will be ready for pick up in 2 days. You can also make arrangements with Jenn Bowers for pick up. Email jennbowers@dwll.ca for more information.

Gear cleaning is not only healthy for the air your team mates are breathing in, but for yours as well.

What causes stinky lacrosse gear?

In a word: bacteria.

The stench is caused by “microbe waste” produced when bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis and Propionibacterium acnes feed on the salts, ammonia, and urea secreted by the body’s sweat glands. The bacteria survive and propagate in moist, warm conditions, including the body, which can then transfer them to equipment. If the gear isn’t cleaned or dried properly, it becomes a breeding ground. But gear stink isn’t the only problem bacteria create. They are also a health hazard. Each year, players are temporarily knocked out of action because of infections from unclean equipment.

About the Esporta Wash System®

Used in the disaster restoration business to clean contents damaged by sewage and smoke, the Esporta has been adopted by fire departments and professional sports teams for washing equipment and clothing.

• Restores up to 85% of soft contents
• PH neutral washing
• Low temperature cleaning
• Kills 99.9% of mould, bacteria, fungus and viruses
• Environmentally safe and uses biodegradable detergents

Guaranteed clean!

After being cleaned all items are swabbed by CRCS staff members and if they do not receive a pass they are cleaned and swabbed again.
